Governance & Board Leadership

Most advanced leaders benefit from additional training, mentoring or coaching on the skills required to best position oneself for board leadership.  The following offerings are provided to help sharpen some of these skills and to inspire you to take the next step in your leadership journey.

Nurse Leaders in the Boardroom: The Skills You Need to be Successful on a Board was produced and hosted by the Center to Champion Nursing in America (CCNA), an initiative of AARP, the AARP Foundation, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). The webinar is brought to ANA members by the ANA Leadership Institute with technological support from Capella University.

The goals of the webinar are to:

  • Understand the importance of nurse leaders serving on health care boards, the unique perspective they bring and what board service offers to nurses.
  • Understand the basic requirements of board service, including stewardship and governance.
  • Learn how to prepare and be considered for board service, including additional resources.
  • Learn how to present Nurse Leaders in the Boardroom to nurse leaders at state and local venues.

This webinar is brought to you free of charge; no CE credit is provided. Originally developed for state nursing leaders, Nurse Leaders in the Boardroom is valuable for any nurse who wants to understand board governance or serve on a board.

The ANA Leadership Institute is pleased to present this webinar and thanks AARP, RWJF, and Capella University for their support in making this program available to nurses across America.
